Senior Inventory Accountant (JK759)

Growing Southeastern Retail company seeking a Senior Inventory Accountant to support inventory accounting, analysis and reporting. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory accounting, reliable reporting, and strong data integrity across systems and locations. This role will play a key part in improving and stabilizing inventory processes, systems, and reporting as the company continues to scale, including identifying root causes of discrepancies and supporting sustainable solutions. This is a full-time role in the Bluffton/Hilton Head, SC area with a hybrid/in-office or remote schedule. Key Responsibilities:

  • Own inventory accounting and reconciliations across all locations.
  • Ensure accurate recording of inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, returns, and adjustments
  • Perform monthly inventory-to-general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Support efforts to identify and resolve inventory differences across systems and locations
  • Assist in improving inventory processes, reporting, and internal controls
  • Develop and maintain daily and monthly inventory reporting and dashboards
  • Generate and support COGS and landed cost analysis
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and IT to improve inventory accuracy and visibility
  • Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Work with large datasets and perform ad hoc analysis to support decision-making
  • Perform other balance sheet reconciliations as needed
  • Assist in the management of Fixed Assets as needed General Accounting / Retail Support
  • Assist in performing various accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts receivable, account payable, treasury, journal entries, financial reporting, etc.
  • Support financial audits including documentation retention, procedure requests, etc.
  • Partner and support Director of Finance/Accounting on ad hoc projects

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5–8+ years of inventory, cost accounting, or related experience
  • Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)
  • Experience with multi-location inventory environments
  • Strong understanding of inventory flows, COGS, and SKU structures
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Experience in omnichannel environments (retail, wholesale, e-commerce)
  • Experience with global sourcing and landed cost accounting
  • Experience building reporting and dashboards
