Overview

Charleston company is seeking an Accountant to work in their Charleston, SC Headquarters. They are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong accounting skills and who is looking for growth potential!

Specific Accountabilities: 

  • Key participant in month-end close processes including; but not limited to, analyzing general ledger activity, posting journal entries, prepare variance analysis for P&L and balance sheet reviews, perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations, and maintaining high quality substantive documentation
  • Critically analyze financial information to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting, including the company’s external reporting requirements (10-K, 10-Q, proxy, registration statement)
  • Provide key inputs to financial statement disclosures and cash flow analyses
  • Ensure transactions are recognized in accordance with US GAAP
  • Timely react to and develop solutions for ad-hoc demands
  • Work closely with various finance, legal, and sales organizations to provide ongoing technical and operational accounting support
  • Develop, maintain, and administer Accounting Policies and Procedures to maintain a system of strong internal controls
  • Assist with providing financial information and documentation for internal and external audit purposes

Essential Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years public accounting assurance experience, preferred
  • CPA or certification progress, preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, software industry and lease accounting experience a plus and the ability to apply relevant guidance to complex transactions
  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.); high level of competency in using complex excel-based analytical models
  • Experience with Hyperion, SAP and/or NetSuite a plus

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Hands-on financial professional possessing outstanding technical and analytical skills; internal control experience essential
  • Exhibits professional presence in interactions with all levels within the organization
  • Possess strong presentation and communication skills; must be able to deal with ambiguity but relay information clearly and concisely
  • Well organized, detail-oriented team player with proven ability to multitask effectively and work independently
  • Able to prepare written communications that articulate messages concisely and accurately
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, including the ability to critically think and present new or creative solutions
  • Ability to work in an organized, detailed manner under tight deadlines
  • Experience in researching, developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures
  • Knowledge and familiarity with multi-country, global business issues and consolidation systems and processes
  • Executes job performance with high sense of moral and ethical standards
  • Working knowledge of LEAN 6-Sigma philosophies, a plus
