Charleston area company seeking qualified Purchasing Manager.

Overview:

As the Purchasing Manager, you will perform and oversee aspects of daily purchasing activities to ensure the company acquires the proper amount of materials, components, and products necessary to meet or exceed the quality, cost, delivery, and service demands of its customers.

You will partner with the Director of Supply Chain to create, maintain, enhance, and implement Procurement Department standardized procedures, forms, and work instructions designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Procurement team. You will support procurement-related IT solutions, various process enhancements, and projects deemed necessary to support the continued growth of the company.

Travel: Individuals outside of the Charleston metro area can expect to travel to the office, at a minimum, on a quarterly basis.

Duties:

  • Create, issue, and change (expedite or de-expedite) purchase orders and purchase order releases as necessary to maintain optimal inventory levels for all materials (capital, consumable, service, digital) in support of the company’s efforts to meet customers’ fluctuating demand requirements
  • Supervise day to day purchasing activities and team members
  • Oversea International Logistics process and shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and determines and addresses the root causes associated with any late deliveries
  • Manage ancillary product purchases, deliveries and processes around third-party deliveries.
  • Support and represent procurement for new product development, service material requirements and vertical integration projects.
  • Maintain integrity of procurement data within the inventory management system with SAP ERP
  • Maintain accuracy of PO pricing required for AP to verify invoice totals for purchased products
  • Address all accounts payable-related issues with suppliers appropriately and promptly
  • Create, enhance, maintain, and help implement standardized work instructions, forms, and procedures based on processes and practices established for and by the department.
  • Gather, maintain and report data necessary for key department measures including but not limited to Supplier Quality and On-Time Supplier Delivery, Inventory total and turns
  • Implement and drive strategic projects in alignment with yearly global objectives
  • Train purchasing department on SAP processes and reports, and identify team knowledge gaps for external training

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; alternatively, an associate degree and equivalent professional experience is acceptable
  • 5+ years’ experience in a role directly supporting manufacturing, manufacturing operations or procurement within an ISO certified environment or certified quality system
  • Experience leading projects and small teams
  • Experience implementing MRP/ERP systems
  • Experience with NPD and Vertical Integration
  • Experience creating and implementing work instructions, forms, and procedures with a quality system
  • Excellent communication skills across organizations, borders, cultures, and hierarchical levels
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel)
  • Experience with SAP MM and SD is highly desired
